Ichi Bike is definitely a One-of-a-kind Custom Cruiser Bike shop with the vibe to prove it! Just step foot in the door and you'll see what I am talking about. As you walk in, it feels like 1/3 urban art gallery, 1/3 old-school custom car shop and 1/3 bike shop all in one well-defined space. There is just as much 'Art' as there is 'Bike'. Add the cool loft-like space, and you have Ichi Bike!

No. 1

"Ichi" means “No. 1” in Japanese, which is why Dan Koenig named his bicycle shop "Ichi Bike". The shop originally opened in May 2010 in Beaverdale by Dan Koenig and his wife, Amy, but relocated to a bigger more-hip spot in the East Village when they quickly out-grew the Beaverdale location. "The New space became available and we knew we had to make the move" says Dan. "We love being Located in the heart of the East Village, surrounded by other great local businesses!" Dan grew up in Beaverdale during the 1970s, a time when he and his friends “did cool things to their bikes. We’d rework and give new life to them.” He's carried that theme into Ichi Bike by specializing in REVIVING older model bikes, CRUISERS, Muscle Bikes, Town Bikes, (you name it…). We love to CUSTOMIZE your Ride to suite your style." Koenig is also the owner of Yankee Doodle Dandy Tattoo in Des Moines. Amy is an artist and she also works at Sticks.

We also offer repair service, bike parts and accessories, not to mention a SWEET bit of unique, limited edition cool clothing, socks, wallets, stickers and shoes, and ART when we have time to make it.
