UPDATED 10/27/10 3:38 pm - The starting time for both days were updated. Noon on Sat and 10:00 am on Sunday. The Costume contest info was updated too. Halloween is celebrated, in one form or another, all over the world. In Belgium people light a candle in memory of dead relatives. In Germany, they hide their knives (in case returning spirits find them). In Hong Kong, pictures of fruit or money are burned in hopes that they will reach the spirit world and comfort the dead. In Iowa, we race Cyclocross. In its fourth year running, Spooky 'Cross is the last two races in the Scheel's Central Iowa Cyclocross Series (CICS). The Spooky 'Cross races have been a top-notch event in the past, and for those of you who raced at Moffit Lake in the pouring rain three years ago, know how much fun a true Cross Course can be!

Guess what? Sunday, Oct 31st is Halloween! Last year's Saturday race fell on the 31st and there were more spooks, ghosts and goblins on the course and sidelines that we knew what to do with. We expect more outta ya this year! We'll see if Mr. Nixon shows his creepy speedo again.

COSTUME CONTEST

I've heard rumors that the race promoters are working on a costume contest... What kinda creativity will make its way to the podium this year? UPDATED 10/27/10 4:00pm: It looks like the "3 Julie's" will be hosting the costume party! Best Costume each day will getcha a 12-pack of Spotted Cow (or Dutch Letters if you are underage/prego/non-drinker).

(CICS) Sunday Awards Ceremony

Sunday Awards - After Sunday's races are over, stick around Living History Farms for the Scheel's Central Iowa Cyclocross Series (CICS) awards ceremony. Cash and Prizes will be awarded to those with the most points in the 7 race series. Check out the Series Point Leaders CICS and Mullet's will be providing PIZZA around 2 pm. In its second year, the same series promotes the popular Wednesday night Renegade practices. The series points are close, and you can bet the races this weekend will be fast and exciting.
