General Information

Every Wednesday evening this summer, Cheryl and Katherine are hosting a weekly ride for women who want to learn how to mountain bike, want to get better at mountain biking, want to explore new trails, want to practice for mountain bike races, or just want to ride with other women.

All skill levels are encouraged to come ride! You just need a mountain bike, a helmet, and a desire to have fun. Beginner through expert, we will break into multiple groups as appropriate.

We will make sure no one gets lost and everyone has support to try new things, and we’ll offer tips and instruction along the way.

We plan to meet at a variety of local (DSM area) trails to get lots of experience. Keep checking Facebook and the "Information Specific to this Date" section below for updates. Locations may change due to weather and trail conditions.

Information Specific to this Date

Watch here for updates specific to Women’s Weekly Wednesday Mountain Bike Ride (WWWMBR) week #18— July 30, 2014, 5:30 p.m.

Meeting Spot: We will meet in the Ashworth Pool parking lot at 5:30 and roll out at at 5:35.

Trail Conditions: Nice and dry.

Quarter Rage: Awesome opportunity! Squirrel is planning a Quarter Rage on the Denman’s and Squirrel’s Nest trails at 6:15 p.m. This means we’ll have time to finish one lap of Denman’s together Then those who want can continue our regular ride with Cheryl on Squirrel’s Nest, Rhythm, and Hillside, and those who want can follow Katherine over to the QR meeting spot.

What is Quarter Rage? You drop a quarter into a can and add your name to the clipboard. Squirrel tells you when to start and times how long it takes you to ride all of Denman’s and Squirrel’s Nest. (He will have a map of the route to show you.) The winner gets all the quarters. Then everyone stands around eating, drinking beer, and having a good time.

Katherine plans to park her car with her cooler and bag of snacks to share at the Valley Drive bridge so it will be convenient, and then bike over to the Ashworth Pool lot for the 5:30 WWWMBR start time.
