Des Moines' original bicycle poker run is back for another exciting year of secret checkpoints. The first checkpoint will be revealed as the race begins, subsequent checkpoints will be revealed along the route. Racers will be dealt one playing card from the top of the deck at each checkpoint, building the best poker hand possible from the cards collected. Don't know much about poker? No problem! There will be an advisor at the finish line to help you optimize your hand. There will be trophies for the fastest finishers in several categories and fabulous prizes for the best poker hands.
Arrive at the starting line (Shorty's) BEFORE NOON to get registered and checked in, even if you register online in advance. The event will start at the usual time, 12:34pm, on the second Saturday in May, May 11th. The course will be open until 3:14, so you must make it to the finish line before then to be eligible for poker prizes.
I'm excited to announce that the funds allocated to trail improvements have been used to install two new BikeFixtations on Des Moines trails. You may have seen one installed at el Bait Shop. Keep your eyes peeled, and soon you'll see some new amenities on the local trails!
