Save The Trails!
New Belgium Brewing, Bike Iowa, and Mickey's Irish Pub in Waukee have joined forces to raise money to help pave the gravel crossings on the great Raccoon River Valley Trail! We need your help!
How you ask?
Bike, Party, Drink New Belgium beers, Support an awesome charity that we all love, AND POSSIBLY WIN A FAT TIRE CRUISER BIKE!
As many of you have seen in an article on Bike Iowa already, the Raccoon River Valley Trail is in need of paved crossings in Dallas County. The gravel crossings are dangerous and hard on road bike tires.
Each of the 13 crossings is $2400 to pave, but we have come up with a great way for us to get AT LEAST 2 more of them done!
When?
Sunday September 16th we will be hosting a Safety Ride starting at Mickey's Irish Pub in Waukee at 10 AM with $25 registration cocktails and breakfast burritos.
Riders will receive a high visibility vest with registration while supplies last.
Then we will be heading up the new north loop to Dallas Center to the Longest Yard (formerly The Harvest Moon) where new owners Tiffany and Brian have agreed to be our gracious hosts. Have some drinks, and take your time returning to Mickey's.
If we get just 160 riders, BAM....we paved one crossing!
At 2:00 PM the 'after party' begins back at Mickey's in Waukee with live music provided by IRA GRACE AND THE BIBLE BELT PROFITS!
THEN!
The main event begins where we draw a winner for our New Belgium Cruiser Bike Raffle! Only 100 tickets will be sold, for $25 each.
If all 100 are sold we have paid for ONE MORE TRAIL CROSSING TO BE PAVED!
1 Day, 2 crossings paved, and a good time was had by all!!
The RRVT is used by us all, and now it needs our help. Come join the fun!
Here is an article on the RRVT site about the ride!
