Just Plain Fun

Distance - 26.8 miles round trip

The ride is sponsored by New Belgium Brewing the makers of FAT TIRE BEER and el Bait Shop. New Belgium will be giving away one of their signature fat tire cruisers at the "FAT TIRE FUN RIDE FINALE", the last of the ride series in October. You must go on one of the rides during the series to register to win. TO WIN THE FAT TIRE CRUISER YOU MUST BE PRESENT AT THE OCTOBER RIDE AND SORRY THE PREVIOUS YEAR'S WINNER IS NOT ELIGIBLE TO WIN. Each ride will have a different route with different bars and entertainment, please check the ride calendar. All ride dates and routes are subject to change due to weather and trail conditions.

Route

We will be going on the GREAT WESTERN TRAIL south to the Cumming Tap. CHECK THE MAP POSTED BY THE BACK DOOR OF THE BAIT SHOP FOR THE EXACT ROUTE.

FUN-Raising

This day BIKEIOWA will have a little fundraiser before the ride, then it's our turn to show our appreciation with a trail ride hitting our favorite cycling hang-outs; El Bait Shop, Cumming Tap, Orlondo's Pizza and the new Library Cafe. Be one of the first 100 cyclists to the Cumming Tap and get a FREE BIKEIOWA slap-coozie (co-sponsored by our good friends at BikeRags.co).

SATURDAY - The Plan

• 11:00am - 12:00pm - Have a beer and buy some BIKEIOWA gear. We will have Cycling Caps, T-shirts, some stickers and the NEW jerseys (men's and women's) for sale pre-ride only. All proceeds go right back into the site. Once noon hits, we are on party-mode, so get there early.
• Noon to 12:30pm - Sign up to win New Belgium Fat Tire Cruiser, have a beer and get loaded up with New Belgium goodness in three flavors: Shift, Ranger and Fat Tire. All in cans.
• 12:30pm - leave El Bait shop - headed to Cumming Tap via Meredith and Great Western Trail. FREE "Shift" beer stop somewhere along the way for the 1st 72 cyclists. Hint: Stay close to the ride leaders - they have been known to stop anywhere...
• 2:00pm - 4:00pm - Cumming Tap for Two J's whiskey tasting, Burgers, wings and sausage sandwiches by Charbus Grill and of course ice cold New Belgium beers on Tap and in cans. Don't forget your FREE BIKEIOWA coozie if you are one of the first 100.
• 4:00 - 5-ish - Head back to Des Moines to Orlondo's Pizza. Maybe a stop along the way...??
• Official Ride ends here.
• 6-ish - 8-ish - Either head back to el Bait Shop or ride to the Library Cafe on University to celebrate the end of the Drake Relays. 30x60 tent with Red Bull DJ from 6-8pm and Fruition from 9pm to midnight.

Note: Fat Tire Bike Riders win tough-guy points ;) If you've been on one of the rides before, we usually plan the ride to the destination, and then folks are on their own about getting back. Holler if you are out of town and need directions back, or want to ride back with us, and we'll watch out for you. byob, byoc. Please carry out what you carry in.

Registration

Be down to el Bait Shop around noon. The ride should start some time there after.
