A group of FORTY+ showed up this afternoon for some mid-week RENEGADE cross practice. We were back at Union Park and Tom (Luggs) and I set up a pretty long and not so brutal course today. Some flats, downhills, off-camber, curb-hopping section and of course the pine cones and walnuts for good measure. My "favorite" was the downhill, hard right, back up hill barrier section. We made a point to add that by the road to make drivers wonder "WTF are those crazies doing?!?" Thanks to all who helped set up and tear down.
We still had FIVE 1st-timers tonight. Cross is still growing each week! Pass the word as this season is short. Time to try it if you have not already. If anyone is interested in another clinic to work on your skills, let Biker@BIKEIOWA.com know and we'll gauge the interest and see what we can do. Tis the season to buy a cross bike... Stop into your LOCAL BIKE SHOP and talk CROSS.
Mike from the Des Moines Register was there tonight too. The Register will be posting something soon on the Central Iowa Cross Scene. Watch for it.
Getting ready for Pella's Saturday race? Check it out the Dirty Wooden Shoe here. We'll post more info on this event soon
