Distance - 45 or 75 miles

Overnight loop ride to historic Nauvoo. Begin at 7:45 Sat. from Southeastern Community College in West Burlington, IA., then rolling hills to lunch at water's edge in Ft.Madison; across the longest double swing span bridge into Illinois and on to Nauvoo. Then the option, to pedal the Great River Road to Hamilton and back. Arrangements have been made to stay at the Nauvoo House - a building begun in 1841 as a hotel for 300 people. Due to Joseph Smith's death, it was never finished; until it was remodeled in 1869, and has since been rehabilitated. There are also horse drawn carriage rides, blacksmiths, potters, glass-blowers, etc. And a renown buffet at the Hotel Nauvoo. 45 miles or 75 miles Sunday will begin with Bickel's Big Biker's Breakfast; it's free. Take the cornfield tour to a rest stop along the river at Dallas City; thru Lomax, and across the Great River Bridge back into Burlington. 45 miles.
