Mountain Biking (RACE)

Distance - 6 hours

This is one of two endurance events that will be offered in The Nebraska Lottery Psycowpath MTB Series, each emphasizing participation and completion over competition. This event features a much longer race time than typical XC events. Solo racers & 2 person Teams will compete for 6 hours. Rather than racing for a specified, short distance, riders are scored based on how many laps they complete before a particular time cutoff. Solo and Team options (2 riders pair up and trade off responsibility of doing laps) to accommodate riders of different fitness, endurance and skill levels. Racers that typically participate in the Expert categories (or above) are expected to race solo.

Route

The best of the best in this state, thanks to Nebraska State IMBA representative, Jesse Petersen, who has led the charge to develop the trails at Platte River State Park. Set in the tree-lined hills above the Platte River, the trails are technically challenging and ecologically friendly at the same time. Be prepared for a healthy chunk of elevation gain, combined with some sweet downhill action. There is a roller coaster section and a rocky stream bed that will definitely raise your pucker factor, too! With a combination of delicious rolling single track and heart pounding double track, you’ll forget you’re in the Midwest. Race loop is approximately 5 miles for all classes.

Registration

On-site registration will be available at all events in the 2007 Psycowpath MTB events with the following guidelines: 1. Riders must present a current annual NORBA license at registration. Annual licenses may be purchased on-site for $60. If you have questions regarding NORBA licensing, visit www.usacycling.org. 2. One-day licenses will be available on-site for $10. Expert riders are not eligible to purchase one-day licenses. Expert downgrades to SPORT, or Sport downgrades to beginner will not be allowed! 3. Registration opens at 8:00a.m. and closes at 9:45 .
