In 2024, we're keeping the excitement alive with our "Fresh Parks" concept, where each week's practice brings you to a new Des Moines park. Experience diverse and dynamic courses that not only challenge your skills but also introduce you to parks you may have never explored before. Check the venue address below to discover where this week's practice will take you.

Cyclocross is a "rain or shine" adventure, but we respect our partnership with Des Moines Parks and Recreation. If conditions are too wet or storms are brewing, practices may be moved or canceled as safety and sustainability come first.

Stay in the loop with the latest updates on BIKEIOWA.com/CROSS, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Remember, Renegade Cyclocross Practices are held AT YOUR OWN RISK!

** Please make sure to sign a waiver at your first practice before you hit the course. **

THIS WEEK'S VENUE OVERVIEW

You probably ride right by Birdland Park all the time on the Neal Smith Trail near Captain Roy's and across from Union Park.

COURSE DETAILS - Birdland Park will be a fun and tight course as we'll practice between the Neal Smith Trial and the Des Moines River... Don't fall in... just kidding!

PARKING - Plenty of Parking at Birdland Marina on the south side or near the Ding Darling Shelter near the levee on the North side.

RENEGADE CYCLOCROSS

Practices are every Tuesday, starting in late August and rolling through early November. Arrive early, get warmed up, and ride at your own pace or with a group. For those eager to push their limits, group organized laps begin at 5:45 pm.

This is your opportunity to sharpen your cyclocross skills in a relaxed, supportive environment. Ride laps at your own pace, join others, ask questions—whatever suits you. No entry fees, no prizes, no official results—just pure riding.

It’s the perfect chance to build intensity, practice barriers, tackle run-ups, descents, and refine your cyclocross techniques alongside riders of all levels. Newer riders can boost their confidence and enjoy the camaraderie, while seasoned cyclists get in a solid workout and share their expertise. But most importantly, it’s all about getting out on your cross bike and enjoying a good workout with friends. Sound good?
