2024 marks the 20th year that BIKEIOWA has been hosting the Ride of Silence in Des Moines.

Join cyclists nationwide in a silent slow-paced ride (max. 12 mph) in honor of those who have been injured or killed while cycling on Iowa's public roadways. 6:30 pm -7:00 pm - various speakers and crowd participation to share why they come to the Ride of Silence and for who. Ride starts at 7:00 pm sharp. Check out the 2008 Ride of Silence Video

www.rideofsilence.org

Why does this ride exist?

  1. To HONOR those who have been injured or killed
  2. To RAISE AWARENESS that we are here
  3. To ask that we all SHARE THE ROAD

THE RIDE OF SILENCE WILL NOT BE QUIET On May 15th, the Ride of Silence will roll across the country, starting at 7:00 pm. Over 370+ U.S.locations in all 50 states and 52 other countries in all 7 continents will take to the roads in a silent procession to honor cyclists who have been killed or injured while cycling on public roadways. Although cyclists have a legal right to share the road with motorists, the motoring public often isn't aware of these rights, and sometimes not aware of the cyclists themselves.

Please ride a slow 10-12 mph or less.
