There are as many different reasons to ride in Critical Mass as there are riders.
Cyclists riding alone may feel helpless or out of place against the enormous social edifice dedicated to cars. Critical Mass is one way to transform that isolation into visability to reinforce bicycles' terrific utility as instruments of progress in Des Moines.
By riding together, we create a visible reminder to motorists that cyclists are not blocking traffic, cyclists ARE traffic, and our place in Des Moines should be celebrated.
