The Iowa Trails Summit brings together trail blazers from across Iowa each fall to learn, connect and collaborate.
The 2022 Iowa Trails Summit will be held at Briggs Woods Conference Center in Webster City with pre-conference activities and reception on Wednesday, October 5. Thursday, October 6 will feature a variety of speakers, break out sessions, and the keynote, Aaron Hautala.
About the Keynote Speaker
Aaron, an avid mountain biker, helped spur an economic and tourism boom in Cuyuna, Minnesota centered around trails. He is the President of the Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Crew, the trail stewards of the Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Trails and the Cuyuna Lakes IMBA?Ride Center. Pre-Conference Activities and Reception
On Wednesday, October 5, there are several options to kick-off the conference.
- Soft Trail Maintenance and Development Workshop (9 a.m.-3 p.m.): Do you have hiking or mountain bike trails in need of some TLC? Maybe a new section that needs to be added to your network but you’re not quite sure how to sustainably build it? Join us Wednesday before the Iowa Trails Summit to sharpen your dirt trail maintenance and development skills. Pete Englund of Legacy Trails, will be walking us through this session including in the field hands-on training in Briggs Woods. This opportunity is being supported by REI. Tickets are $15 which includes lunch.
- Bike ride/Paddle (4 p.m.): Explore the Boone River Recreational Trail by bicycle or take a relaxing paddle around Briggs Woods Lake. This is free, but a separate ticket is required.
- Pre-Conference Reception (6:30 p.m.): Enjoy hors d'oeuvres and drinks at the conference center while you mingle with other attendees. Tickets are $15.
