The Bicycle Collective is currently in need of bike donations for our upcoming cycling season and will be hosting a bike drive at the Ankeny First UMC Uptown location (North parking lot) on Saturday, April 9th, from noon-3pm. Bikes in ANY condition are accepted. Kids' bikes are especially needed to prepare for upcoming bike giveaways.
The Bicycle Collective is a program of the Street Collective, a nonprofit that envisions a region where everyone can walk, pedal, ride or roll comfortably throughout the community. The "do-it-together" shop is located in Des Moines' East Village and provides a space for community members to learn about bike maintenance while also offering refurbished bikes for sale. Bikes also are given away free-of-charge throughout the year through partnerships with local organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and the Des Moines Public Schools.
