The Driftless 100 (previously the Volga City 105) is a hilly gravel race throught Clayton County, Iowa that features all the beautiful landscape that is one of Iowa's best kept secrets. There are 10,000 feet of climbing in the 100 mile race, yes, this race is in Iowa. The race is designed to showcase the Driftless region of the state and push even the most savy gravel rider. Over 90% of the race is on general gravel with about 5% on pavement and 5% on level b/c roads. It is not designed to be a mud fest but this is Iowa in April so it could be sloppy. If you are looking for an event to train for this winter, I promise this race will test you. Aid will be provided at the half way point of the 50 and 25. The 100 mile race will have 3 aid stations at 38, 62 and 85 miles.
This race is held by a local non-profit organization that devotes its resources to helping small communities restore necessary infestructure in their area.
