Have you noticed that Des Moines is bicycle crazy? On nice days (and some not-so-nice) you will see hundreds of bikers on the many paths that crisscross our city.
If you think this is a new fascination, you’ll be surprised to learn the true history. During this virtual Zoom presentation, historian John Zeller will tell the true story of biking in Des Moines. His presentation includes many historic photos, personalities and stories that are the foundation of our current-day two-wheeled past time.
We’ll also hear from Deb Madison-Levi who will tell us the story of her restored Ice Cream Bike. And Dan Koenig from Ichi Bike will give us a live digital tour of his warehouse where he will show us some of his favorite bike restoration projects.
Note: This presentation is open to the public. To participate, please email breannbye(at symbol)outlook.com and we will provide you the meeting link and password.
At 5:00pm (just before this presentation), the Des Moines Historical Society will hold it’s quarterly Board Meeting. This is also open to the public. If you are interested in knowing more about the direction of the Des Moines Historical Society, join us at 5:00pm!
