You’ve paid your registration you’ve done the training. Don’t let a bent or broken derailleur ruin your event.
Beaverdale Bicycles and Bikeiowa.com have joined up and are putting on a “Get me to the Finish Line" Derailleur Clinic at Beaverdale Bicycles.
This educational clinic is not only for races, but riding bicycles in general and not leaving your stranded out in the middle of nowhere. Knowing how to fix and/or adjust your derailleur is crucial when "that time" comes.
This is an informal clinic. There will be some seating and you'll have a chance to gather around and watch the maintenance up close and personal.
Things we'll address:
- Preventative Maintenance
- Rear derailleur function and adjustments
- Master Links - what are they and how to use
- Rear derailleur limit screws “ONLY IN AN EMERGENCY”
- Derailleur hanger damage, salvage or replacement
- Derailleur damage to chain: inspection and repair
- Bypassing the rear derailleur
Q&A - There will be time for Questions and Answers after the clinic.
Increase Your Tool-kit effectiveness
There will be Master Links for purchase.
Beaverdale Bicycles can order you a spare Derailleur hanger too.
If you want to purchase that evening, be sure to know what chain you have (9sp, 10sp, 11sp, etc.).
Don't know? take a photo of you rear cassette and derailleur and your bike make and model.
