THE RETURN OF THE TOUR DE SKUNK!
On Saturday June 17, 2017 cyclist from around the universe will descend on the village of Mingo, Iowa in rural Jasper County for the premier cycling event of the cosmos:
Cyclist will begin meeting in Mingo at 10 am at the world famous GREENCASTLE TAVERN in scenic Mingo.
Ryan, Theresa and the rest of the crew from the tavern will offer specials on breakfast burritos, Bloody Mary’s and Screw Drivers during the registration period until the ride departs at noon (or so)
Cyclist will then meander to the banks of the Skunk River in Colfax on Hwy 117 . Upon arrival in Colfax, cyclist can choose to dine at one of many culinary delights offered in Colfax, as well as visit the quaint THIRSTY TURTLE for a cold one.
When cyclist are rested and well hydrated they can depart the Turtle to traverse the rolling hills to Mitchellville on Hwy F48.
The fine staff at TEAM 36 BAR AND GRILL will greet riders with open arms and pinched noses. Food, fun and frivolity will abound.
Well rested and fed, cyclist will head north on Hwy S27 for the decent to the Chichaqua Valley Trail. Traveling east on the trail bicyclist will swerve back to GREENCASTLE TAVERN to dine upon swine and enjoy the live music.
That’s right an old fashion hog roast with all the fixin’s and live music on the patio!
A REGISTRED cyclist will receive an official Tour De Skunk T-shirt, the hog roast and fixin’s and the good karma of knowing their $25 dollar registration fee went to help CHILDSERVE. Childserve is an organization which serves special needs children of Polk and surrounding counties. 100% of registration profits will go to Childserve.
Pre registering will save a rider $5.00 and will ensure receipt of your T- shirt ON DAY OF THE RIDE.
LIVE MUSIC, Roasted Pig, a T-shirt and a donation to an organization which helps kids who need a little help.
