Team Cat is itching to take the crown back from Team Dog at this year's Top Jobs Services Tour de Fur charity bike ride!

This year's ride to benefit Furry Friends Refuge animal shelter takes place Sunday, Aug. 28, from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Riders will start and end at Fox Brewing, with several rest stops along the way, including Sully's Irish Pub, 515 Brewing Company, The Blazing Saddle, and Exile Brewing Co. 

Enjoy a complimentary chair massage from HealthSource of West Des Moines at Water Works Park and refreshments at Windsor Heights Dog Park — and don't forget to toss your name in the drawings at the start! You'll also have several opportunities to vote for which pet is best, cats or dogs, with donations to the shelter.

Advance registration is $20 and includes drawing tickets; riders can check in from 11 a.m. to noon, during which time they may also register for $25. T-shirts will be sold separately, starting in late July.

All proceeds benefit Furry Friends Refuge animal shelter. The nonprofit has built Iowa's first and only no-kill communities in West Des Moines, Clive, and Urbandale, meaning more than 90 percent of animals leave the shelter alive. Route

From Fox Brewing, head south on 11th Street to pick up the Jordan Creek Trail (heading left). Follow the trail to the Bill Riley Trail through Water Works Park to Exile Brewing Co., then take the trail along MLK Jr. Parkway to the East Village and Blazing Saddle. 

Head back to the MLK Jr. Parkway trail and south past Principal Park to return to Water Works Park for your massage, then head up the Bill Riley and Walnut Creek trails to hit 515 Brewing Co. and the Windsor Heights Dog Park. Take the Walnut Creek trail back down to the sidewalk at 63rd and Grand to cross over to Sully's before returning home.
