This is a letter from Gary who lives in NYC and rides with the Escape. To the many concerned: I would like to thank all of you who have sent E-mails showing your support and caring during this most dramatic and humbling time in all of our lives. As you can imagine things have been crazy and hectic, however, in an effort to respond to each of you I have compiled the latest information that I am aware of in this letter. Everyone here is doing fine considering the circumstances. We have lost some very close friends but, as you know, the people on our team have always been a close family and this tragedy has brought us even closer. I want to thank you all for your prayers and your thoughts. I, along with friends, are touched by the display of kindness and it will not be forgotten. The following is a rough report of information that I have received from my friends. This information comes to me by phone from some of the boys during their rescue efforts. As of tonight, 13 September 2001, this is the information that I know: John Moran: is still missing. Mike Moran: is ok but 3 Truck was crushed by the collapse of the first building and I believe his company lost 12 men. Alex Timlin: is ok. His firehouse also suffered heavy losses. George Healy: is ok. As you know, George was promoted out of Emergency One, which was one of the trucks destroyed by the first collapse of WTC#1. I haven’t had the opportunity to speak with Chris Healy but I did speak to George’s dad – they are doing fine. Tommy Pare: I haven’t been able to reach him but I only hope that he is ok because I think his firehouse is located on Staten Island and probably wouldn’t have been there at the time of the collapse (this is my own speculation).
