Tad Costello was killed in a tragic accident on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, in Des Moines, Iowa.

Tad was only 55 years old and was full of life, love, and laughter. He was a kind and generous man who always went out of his way to help others. His family and friends are absolutely devastated and heartbroken by these events.

We appreciate any contributions to help with funeral, medical, and associated expenses.

Proceeds would also go to a memorial, including a bench and a tree in his honor.

Thank you very much.

BIKEIOWA NOTE: Tad had been in the Des Moines cycling scene since the 1970's when he was into BMX. Those skills led him to mountain biking and racing bikes and eventually his kids followed his footsteps and are very active life-cyclists.

Tad was well known and loved by many.

He always seemed to be in really good riding shape even though he never thought he was.

We has the pleasure of riding with Tad on a Big Creek State Park fat bike lap followed by Pizza in Polk City six days before his death. We'll cherish that night and all the others forever.

Tad sponsored mountain bike and cyclocross races through his business - Eastown Tire & Auto Care.

He will be missed.

We will be sure to call out his name and remember him at the Ride of Silence in May.

RIP Tad.
