A team of volunteers traveled throughout the city Thursday night helping those who are cold, hungry, and homeless.
It's all part of a central Iowa charity's effort to help the most vulnerable.
It's called the Urban Bicycle Food Ministry. When it gets this cold, they trade their bikes in for cars. Though their mission is the same — to help one another.
“Brandy, how are you? Have you had supper yet?” said volunteer Bryan Thompson as he approached a homeless woman.
It's one below zero at a homeless camp on Des Moines' southeast side.
“We've got extra food, hand warmers, blankets boots,” Thompson says to her.
