Bicyclist struck by vehicle in Mason City has died

...

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff's Office is reporting that a 60-yea-old man from Mason City was brought to hospital after he was hit by a pick-up truck while riding his bike on Saturday night.

James Alton Powell was riding his bike on 22375 Thrush Ave., Mason City, IA when Cody William Skiye, 28, of Mason City, hit him. Skiye was driving a 2010 Dodge Ram. Authorities say the man on the bike had proper lighting and was following Iowa traffic code.

Deputies arrested Skiye for OWI-2nd Offense, an aggravated misdemeanor;making false report to law enforcement,a simple misdemeanor;no insurance, a simple misdemeanor; and operating a motor vehicle too closely to a bicycle, a simple misdemeanor.
