A love of beer and art has resulted in a new mural completed inside a soon-to-open Waukee brewery.

Kinship Brewery Companyowner Zach Dobeck, 34, last week gave the Register a first look at the new art, a20-by-90-foot mural painted by Georgia artist Greg Mike.

The 13,000 square-foot brewery at 255 NW Sunrise Drivehas been underconstruction for the last eight months and is slated to open in January.

The business isa longtime dream of Dobeck's, and it promptedhimand his wife, Ann, 33, tomove from Georgia, where Zach is from,to Iowa, Ann'shome state.

Zach Dobeck wanted some art inthe business to reflect a bit of his home state. But instead of doing a cliché Georgia peach, the craft beer lovercommissionedMike, the owner of an Atlanta-based marketingand design businessABetterViewAgency, and gave him some artistic freedom.

The result is a giantblack and white tiger, screaming with itsmouth open as bold colors and characters burst out from the sides of its ferocious jaws.

The idea behind the mural is to catch people's attention as soon as they walk through the business'sdoors, Zach Dobeck said.

"Like it's not limiting; it draws you in. It's loud, and it's exciting," Zach Dobeck said.
