For the first time, the public will see the newly installed lights shine on the Raccoon River Valley Trail bridge in Adel.
Over the last two years, 66 color-changing LED lights were installed on the bridge and the approaches where the trail crosses the Raccoon River. Adel Partners Chamber of Commerce Director Deb Bengston says she thinks the public is going to be very impressed with the final product, “It’s something that you have in your mind exactly what it’s going to look like. Then when you’re out testing it, you’re realizing it’s even better than you imagined it. Each of the 66 heads has 22 dials in it. So we have over 16 million different color combinations that we can come up with. The sky’s the limit on what we want to do in lighting the bridge.”
The lights will officially be turned on Tuesday, October 6th at 7:15 p.m. Due to concerns over COVID-19, there will not be a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony, but the bridge will be visible from the trail and on Highway 6.
