Due to ongoing concerns of the COVID-19 pandemic, you may feel like you’re cooped up inside this summer without the ability to go anywhere or do anything. However, Dallas County Conservation reminds you of the wide assortment of activities you can do as a family in their nature areas, without having to worry about social distancing.

Natural Resource Manager Greg Sieck offers some advice on possible outdoor adventures in Dallas County, each of which is ideal for families with children. Activities include:

  • hiking on nature trails
  • making s’mores at various locations
  • tent, RV, or cabin camping
  • bike riding on the Raccoon River Valley Trail

Areas Conservation operates include:

  • Kuehn Conservation Area near Earlham
  • Voas Nature Area near Minburn
  • Hanging Rock near Redfield
  • Sportsman Park near Dawson

The nature areas are free to use, though there is a charge for reserving campsites or use of the bike trail.
