The fifth annual Bike Central Do Not Freeze bike ride will be held at 9 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 17.
The ride will offer bicyclists two routes to Brunsville — a road route and a gravel route.
The road route will take cyclists on the Le Mars Recreation Trail to County Road C-38 where they will head west and then north to Brunsville. The gravel route utilizes a few different gravel roads northwest of Le Mars, weaving cyclists to Brunsville. Both routes will conclude at the Corner Cafe.
“We started this event as a break from the winter blues,” said Mark Strub, manager, Bike Central. “Many cyclists are riding stationary bikes or their own bikes on indoor trainers. There are only so many hours watching a training video or staring at a wall while on on a trainer, that people can take. Others just want to get out. It’s the right time of year to begin thinking of spring and a lot of cyclists are excited for something a little different.”
Strub said last year the ride saw 40 participants take part with riders from Le Mars, Sioux City, Omaha, Des Moines, Yankton and Sioux Falls.
