Police have cited the van driver in a Tuesday afternoon bicycle accident that injured a Waterloo boy.

William Severson, 22, of Evansdale, was cited for failure to maintain a lookout, according to the accident report.

The crash injured 9-year-old Keaton Hughes, and paramedics with Waterloo Fire Rescue took him to Covenant Medical Center with a possible broken wrist and broken leg, according to the accident report.

Severson was driving a Dodge van west in the 2100 block of Byron Avenue around 2:50 p.m. Tuesday, and he told police he didn’t see the child, and the child rode across the street in front of him, according to the report.
