As many of you know, central Iowa cyclist, Wade Franck, was
killed by a drunk driver last August while riding on an organized ride in Des
Moines. His family is using his memorial fund to create a bikers’ plaza at the
trailhead at Ankeny Market Pavilion. The family has also donated one of his
favorite bikes, his tricked-out Eddy Merckx Corsa Extra, to be auctioned online
on Feb. 27 ending at 8 p.m. Proceeds go to the bike plaza project.
This
early 1990s Eddy Merckx Corsa Extra classic bicycle comes from the collection
of Ankeny cyclist, Wade Franck.
Proceeds
from the sale of this bike will be used by the Ankeny Rotary Club to help fund
a cycling rest stop at the Ankeny Market Pavilion and trailhead.
