WarrenCounty should have a master plan for its trails by the end of 2016.

Sheila Navis, executive director of Iowa Heartland Resource Conservation and Development, along with Gay Lea Wilson, president of Iowa Heartland RC&D, and Brian Leaders, of the National Parks Department in Council Bluffs, hosted a meeting atthe Warren County administration building last week.

Those in attendance included Carlisle Mayor Ruth Randleman, Norwalk Mayor Tom Phillips and Warren County Supervisor Doug Shull.

Wilson explained Jasper, Warren, Madison and Marion counties all received grant money to come up with master trail plans, which will help cities and counties begin budgeting and writing grants for future trail growth and maintenance projects.

She said the overall goal for Warren County will be to connect its trails to the Central Iowa Trail System.
