In late January, Okoboji was told the Des Moines Registers bike ride, RAGBRAI, would be an overnight stop on July 20. With the help of over 400 volunteers, the community came together to host an approximate 25,000 riders and support personnel."RAGBRAI enjoyed the first overnight in the event's 42 year history at the Iowa Great Lakes. Okoboji was a great host and the riders were entertained with the area attractions, entertainment and fireworks to cap off a tremendous evening," said T.J. Juskiewicz, RAGBRAI director.
The Okoboji RAGBRAI organizing committee would like to thank all those that helped with many hours of energy and effort to welcome thousands of cyclists to the community on July 20. By all accounts, the first-ever RAGBRAI overnight stop in the Iowa Great Lakes was a success.
