A 60-year-old Bettendorf man has been flown to Iowa City for treatment of injuries he suffered Wednesday in a bicycle versus car accident in Pleasant Valley.

A 911 call went out at 11:22 a.m. for the collision in front of the BP gas station on Great River Road (U.S. 67), a Scott County Sheriff's Deputy Sean Thompson said in a news release.

The cyclist, who is not being identified until family is notified, was taken to Genesis Medical Center, East Rusholme Street, Davenport, and later flown to University Hospitals, Iowa City, because of his head injuries, the deputy said. Police said he wasn't wearing a helmet.

The driver of the 2006 blue Chevrolet Impala, Nancy Pearson, 61, of LeClaire that struck the cyclist was issued two citations: failing to maintain control and unsafe passing of a bicyclist.
