Black Hawk Trail potential shift through DNR parks

Residents along Crescent Park Drive in Lake View were not won over by plans to continue the Black Hawk Lake trail through their neighborhood. Safety and overflow parking concerns dominated feedback received by city officials. The plan called for an extension of a four foot bike shoulder added to both sides of the road. With the trail’s phase three plans hitting a roadblock City Clerk, Scott Peterson says the city council will look at other options.

Peterson says land in the parks have the potential to be incorporated into the Black Hawk Lake Trail plan. However discussions with the Iowa DNR will need to happen before any progressive movement with the idea can take place
