The Polk County Sheriff's Office and Iowa Health Systems
will offer 50 free children's bicycle helmets at an event
at the Polk County Jail at 1:30 p.m., today.
Helmets are designed to fit children between the ages of 2
and 13. Trained staff will ensure that each helmet fits
properly so parents will need to bring their children with
them.
Officials say there will be a limited number of helmets of
each size. The sheriff's office and Iowa Health Systems
want to emphasize the importance of bicycle safety with the
July 4 holiday approaching.
The Polk County Jail is located at 1985 N.E. 51st Place,
just west of Delaware Avenue (Northeast 22nd Street).
