KCCI To Feature Cartoonist Brian Duffy

DES MOINES, Iowa
After being seen on the front page of the Des Moines
Register for 25 years, award-winning cartoonist Brian
Duffy’s work will now be seen on KCCI NewsChannel 8 and
KCCI.com.
Beginning May 5th, KCCI NewsChannel 8 viewers will be able
to see Duffy’s cartoons animate on their TV screens
Tuesdays & Thursdays at 6pm & 10pm. The cartoons will also
be available for viewing on KCCI.com Wednesdays and Fridays.
“Duffy’s creative wit and style have been sorely missed,
and we are delighted to be able to bring him back and
showcase his great work,” says KCCI News Director Dave
Busiek. “Being able to animate his cartoons and see them
come to life will be even better than just the still image
you used to see in the newspaper.”
Brian Duffy is an award-winning cartoonist whose work had
been anchored on the front page of the Des Moines Register
for twenty-five years, from 1983-2008. He has been working
as a cartoonist and illustrator for more than 30 years. He
has received numerous Best of Gannett awards, two
consecutive World Hunger Media awards, the Clarion Award
and was a finalist for the prestigious John Fischetti Award
for editorial cartooning. His two books are "A Decade of
Duffy" published in 1993 and "More of Duffy," published in
1995. His work continues to be seen locally in the weekly
Cityview newspaper, and around the state through Duffy’s
Iowa Syndicate. King Features Syndicate nationally
syndicates Duffy’s cartoons in over 400 newspapers. His
work can also be seen on his website www.duffyink.com.
Duffy attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and
the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. He lives in West
Des Moines with his wife and four children.
