Phil Keoghan doesn’t encounter all the road blocks and detours that the teams taking part in “The Amazing Race” do. But the host of the CBS series won’t have it so easy in his “Ride Across America Presented by GNC.”
On March 28, he will embark on a 40 day, coast-to-coast bike ride from Los Angeles to New York that will cover more that 3,500 miles and make pit stops in more than 30 cities. His exact route has not yet been released, but a recent press release listed a few of the cities he will visit — Las Vegas; Denver; Lincoln, Neb.; Des Moines, Iowa; Chicago; Fort Wayne, Ind.; Columbus, Ohio; Pittsburgh; Washington D.C.; Baltimore; and Philadelphia.
Along the way, Keoghan will attend meet and greets with supporters at local GNC stores, visit CBS affiliates, sign copies of his best-selling book “No Opportunity Wasted” and attend open casting calls for the next installment of “The Amazing Race.”
His bike ride adventure will end May 9, the day before the Season 14 finale of “The Amazing Race” that includes Christie Volkmer of Choctaw. Volkmer and teammate Jodi Wincheski, both flight attendants for Southwest Airlines, are among the remaining seven teams in the “Race,” which enters week five at 7 p.m. Sunday (March 15) on CBS.
