Trail Project Meets Matching Funds Goal

Ankeny To Woodward Link To Feature Huge Pedestrian Bridge DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Ankeny to Woodward trail project has qualified for a $1.75 million Vision Iowa grant. A fundraising effort brought in enough money to meet a required match for the project. Plans can now proceed over the winter to create the trail's showpiece: a half-mile, 13-story bridge over the Des Moines River Valley between Woodward and Madrid. The artist-designed sculptural bridge will be fifth-longest pedestrian bridge in the world. In order to finish the bridge and trail, partners in the project must will raise about $400,000 by next summer.
