The event occurs rain or shine, but obviously bad weather will curtail the enthusiasm for the bike riding portion for some. If weather's bad, we'll move the event to the lobby of River Place (the remodeled old Target store -- worth seeing) and continue with the bike helmet give-away, the speeches, and probably plant the commemorative tree unless it's really a dangerous storm, We're working on developing an alternative functional art project for the trail -- since painting the Euclid underpass might not occur due to potential for flooding. The free ice cream at Van Dee's in Johnston will be available to all who participate in the grand opening whether they ride or drive to Van Dees or not (we're hand-stamping participants for their free cones). That's the plan at this point. Please help spread the word. We remain enthusiastic about the grand opening of the trail - it's an event worth celebrating.
