A family bike ride along the new Perry Creek Trail in Sioux City will be held Saturday, Sept. 8, in the first ever event co-sponsored by Liberty National Bank and Albrecht Cycle Shop. Families are encouraged to participate and use the new recreational trail, said Terry Hoffman, the city's parks and recreation manager. Goody bags containing bike accessories, climbing wall passes for the Long Lines Family Rec Center and novelties will be given to riders as long as supplies last. Free hot dogs and drinks will be offered after the ride. The event will begin at 11 a.m. in the Liberty Bank's parking lot, at 205 Pearl St. Albrecht Cycle will perform safety checks on bicycles, starting at 10:30 a.m. Riders are encouraged to wear helmets. "The trail goes right past our branch," Paul Hansen, bank spokesman, said. "We see people using it all the time. ...We felt this was a good way to introduce people to the trail." Michael Patrick, the bank's president and CEO, added, "It's a great opportunity for us to give goodies to the kids." Hoffman said he was pleased to have corporate sponsorship for the event.
