A special event for children treated for cancer at University of Iowa Children’s Hospital is scheduled from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, at the Build-A-Bear store in the Coral Ridge Mall in Coralville.
The second Build-A-Bear Party is the result of a fundraising project involving local bicycle racers. The Roc Doc Road Rock Stage Race is a low-key, seven-day stage race that was held July 16-July 22. The competition is designed for local bike racers.
The proceeds of the race fund the Build-A-Bear party for pediatric oncology patients at UI Children’s Hospital in Iowa City.
The week of road racing included road races, time trials and a criterium with all events held in eastern Iowa, mostly in the Iowa City area. The Two Bee Racing Club of Ely, Iowa organized the Roc Doc Road Rock. More than 10 other grass-roots amateur Iowa bike racing clubs, in conjunction with Priority Health Pro Cycling Team of Del-ton, Mich., supported the project.
