Empact! and Sport, excercise and recovery products from Mannatech, in partnership with CyclingUpdate.com, are proud to announce the addition of a category for tandems at the CyclingUpdate.com Spring Series race on March 24th. With a cash purse of $150, this is considered the richest purse for a tandem specific race in Iowa ever* Julia Fish, a distributor of Empact! and Sport, is excited to be a part of this historic race. Empact! and Sport, produced by the nutritional suppliment giant; Mannatech, are designed to provide the carbohydrates and elecrolytes needed for intense efforts, without the spike/crash effects of fructose, found in ordinary corn syrup. Sport is a post exercise recovery product, helping with a quick recovery for tomorrows hard effort! Dave Mable, Coodinator of the Tandem division, is excited to host this race and is hopeful for a strong tandem turn-out. "While early in the season, we anticipate that most tandem couples could remain competitive for the one lap event." Dave goes on to say "By offering the cash prize, we believe it will make it worthwhile for folks to make the trip to Bondurant from all corners of the state." Iowa, in fact, has a strong tradition of tandems on the racing scene. Brian and Kim Eppen, of the Mercy/Specialized Team, have won, outright, the Ore To Shore off road race in northern Michigan and are contenders each year for the challenging Chequamegon 40 in Wisconsin. Lance and Traci Andre, riding for FreeFlight/Chain Reaction, posted a strong Chequamegon showing last fall, placing 2nd, even after a couple of flats! Dave and Dee Mable, of All9Yards Cycling Team are top ten contenders each year at Chequamegon and raced the grueling Leadville 100 mtn bike race last August. Jim and Sally Logan, also riding with the All9yards/Rassmusen Cycling Team, challenged at the Leadville 100 last summer, and are always serious contenders at the Iowa Games Road Race in July. On the road, Steve and Leanne Lauber of Bike World, and the Coughlins, known as the Cow Couple have been battling it out during this winters Roller Race series! Dave Hammer and Cindy Dubois, of DMCC/DMOS have been challengers at the Iowa Games Road Race for several years. Click on www.cyclingupdate.com for up to the minute information. We hope the challenge and the unbelievable cash purse will attract many of these top contenders and make for an exciting race! Peace - Dave Mable
