News - 2006 Psycowpath Mtb Series Source - http://www.nebraskacyclingnews.com/ Sunday, 21 May 2006 The Kanesville Krusher XC (hosted by BMD Racing) dished out some series competition on Saturday, with lightning fast downhills to steep out-of-the-saddle climbs. The Beginner event at 10am had near perfect to dusty conditions yielding a very fast course. At approximately 11:15am, however, the skies opened and light rain fell until 12:15, just after the start of the Sport/Expert event. With a vague forecast and questionable conditions on the horizon, the Sport/Expert event was shortened to 2 and 3 laps respectively. The noon event started in muddy conditions, with riders slipping, crashing, and riding with both feet on the ground down the main chute to the bottom of the bluffs. Amazingly, no major injuries were reported, although plenty of riders came through after one lap with lots of mud on them. As time progressed, conditions became much better, with many riders proclaiming the final lap to be "perfect" conditions with no dust and tacky hardpack. Cam Kirkpatrick (Rasmussen's) led the day, taking the top spot on the Expert open podium. Close behind Kirkpatrick was Kent McNeill (Highgear), followed by Sam Johnson (Sioux City Velo) with his best finish yet in his first year as an Expert. Coming in fourth place was Greg Shimonek (Highgear), and Jay Chesterman (Sioux City Velo) completed the Expert open podium in fifth. The Lewis & Clark Kanesville Krusher was the 3rd event of the 2006 Nebraska Lottery Psycowpath Series, and the 2nd of 5 XC events. The 2006 Nebraska Lottery Psycowpath Series continues on June 10 with Ponca's Revenge Marathon, and then again on June 24 with the Swanson River City Shootout XC (rescheduled from April 29). Editors note: This race was also the 4th event of the 2006 IMBCS presented by Kia of Des Moines of a ten race series. IMBCS #5 is scheduled for the weekend of June 17 / 18 at Sockum Ridge State Park, near Washington, IA (about 30 minutes south of Iowa City).Squirrel was first overall in singlespeed and I think he was also first overall in the sport class. Stay tuned for full results and report. Cam Kirkpatrick President - IMBCS Urbandale, IA
