I'd like to offer a huge thanks to everyone that came out to Seven Oaks for IMBCS #2. Troy Tellinghuesen and the folks at Singletrack Promotions did an outstanding job in successfully putting on the race. The weather was about as close to perfect as you're going to get, with sunny skies and temps in the mid 70’s. As usual, the course was in fantastic shape and also included 1.5 miles of new singletrack.
Brief results go a little something like this.
In the beginner race, Damon Wagner bested a field of 14 starters to finish 1 lap in a time of 52:53, followed closely by Matt Scotton in 53:29. Stephen Carney finished in 3rd in 54:02. On the women’s side Jennifer Taylor finished in first with a time of 1:08:29 followed by Marianne Schroeder in 1:59:09.
In the sport race Jeff Anchor was the top finisher in a field of 34 racers with a time of 1:25:18 over two laps. Des Moines resident John Conlan (Rasmussen Bike Shop) finished in second in 1:27:59. Andrew Carney came in third in 1:32:06, followed by Jubil Young in 1:32:40. Lonie Sauber rounded out the top five in 1:34:32. Jami Hartwig (Team Skin) won the sport women’s race with a time of 2:04:40.
In the expert race there were 21 starters. Cam Kirkpatrick (Rasmussen Bike Shop) won the three lap race in 1:52:40 followed by Brian Eppen (Mercy Specialized) at 1:53:28. Cully Todd (Cannondale MTB Racing Team) came in 3rd at 1:53:45, Jay Chesterman (Sioux City Velo) came in 4th at 1:59:09 and Andy Lueck rounded out the top five in
2:03:54. Kim Eppen (Mercy Specialized) won the expert women’s race in 1:38:52.
