Visitors to the Muscatine bike trail will soon have a new attraction to enjoy.

A sculpture that was constructed by Muscatine Power and Water for the 50th running of RAGBRAI that came through Muscatine in 2023 is set to be relocated too the bike trail.

Erika Cox, director of customer and technology experience for MPW, said the sculpture of bicycles was displayed on the Muscatine riverfront when RAGBRAI riders came through town on July 29, 2023. During RAGBRAI that year, Muscatine served as the final meetup town on the route before ending in Davenport. The sculpture was part of several special attractions set up for the estimated 30,000 riders.

As the hours counted down to the 50th running of RAGBRAI entering Muscatine as a meeting town on its way to the finish in Davenport Saturday, workers from Muscatine Power and Water set up a display of two bike sculptures in Riverside Park on July 28, 2023

“A couple of our mechanics from the power plant constructed those bikes to be part of the 50th anniversary of RAGBRAI,” Cox said. “We wanted to have a sculpture set up for that. We have been working with the city for a while now to see if there couldn’t be a more permanent location that the community might enjoy those.”
