The biggest party on two wheels crowded into Ottumwa this summer. It brought more than 18,000 people to town. The crowds are now gone... but Meet Ottumwa’s Laura Carrell says the impact is not.
“Now we’re able to take that and turn it into an opportunity to give back to the community that hosted them so well,” said Carrell.
Greater Ottumwa Partners in Progress' Executive Director, Marc Roe said RAGBRAI brought in well over $80,000 in revenue.
Roe drove that statement home by saying, “We’ve far surpassed what we did in 2016 and 2009. “
Roe said 100% of that revenue will be used for grants to local nonprofits. “The intention is that we are able to help a few people out. But you know, obviously that’s dependent on who applies for the grant,” said Roe.
Grant Applications are due to Greater Ottumwa Partners in Progress by January 31st at 3pm.
