Former Atlantic resident Tim O’Brien in grew up riding bikes, and will be taking on a challenge next year of riding the Tour De France route prior to the race and also raising money for the fight against leukemia.
“I had a little stingray (bike when I was around 10 years old),” he said. “Then at 16 advanced to a racing type bike and purchased one instead of a car.”
His bike riding took him several places including on several RAGBRAI rides, an eight-week ride across America with North Iowa Touring Club, riding in the Canadian Rockies with the North Iowa Touring Club, riding through Sweden, Norway and Denmark, riding the Le Tape de Tour, a one-day ride before the professionals took on the Tour de France, completed the Triple by-pass ride in Colorado and climbed Pikes Peak two days later, just to name a few.
