Cedar Falls Police arrested a 42-year-old Ryan Pontasch who is connected to a bicycle accident that happened last March.
Several minutes after 3:30 p.m. on March 13th, officers were sent to help after receiving a report of a GMC pick-up hitting a bicyclist, 22-year-old Krisha Keeran, who had been riding on the trail. Keeran was hit near the entrance of Pheasant Ridge Golf Course, located at 3205 West 12th Street.
Pontasch was the driver of the GMC pick-up. The car in front of Pontasch slowed to turn left into the golf course. Pontasch swerved to avoid hitting the car, causing his car to leave the road and veer into the bike path, hitting Keeran, a tree, and several signs.
After the incident, Keeran was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for her injuries. She is no longer in the hospital.
Pontasch has been charged with Serious Injury by Vehicle, Failure to Maintain Control, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Failure to Provide Proof of Financial Liability.
