BIKEIOWA UPDATE 8/19/24
This crash wasn't initially on our radar as this appeared to be a pedestrian-related crash. We were updated that this was a bicycle-related crash. A husband and wife (Mark & Jenny) were riding when the wife got a flat. Mark rode ahead to get their car while the Jenny walked alongside the road when she was struck by the distracted 17 year old driver who swerved off the road.

Once again, the media is object blaming - "struck by SUV", not "struck by 17 year old Jade Danielle Quam"

Someone was killed Wednesday evening when they were hit by an SUV in Cerro Gordo County.
The Iowa State Patrol says Jade Danielle Quam, 17 of Mason City, was driving a 2004 GMC Envoy south on Plymouth Road when the SUV struck Jennifer Dawn Buls-Vrba, 42 of Mason City, in the 1500 block at around 6:12 pm.
The State Patrol says Buls-Vrba was taken by ambulance to MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center but died.
This incident remains under investigation.
The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, Mason City Police Department, and Mason City Fire Department assisted at the scene.
