Hundreds of cyclists hit the trails on Saturday for the annual Bridges Ride through the Cedar Valley.

The idea started back in 2008 after three bridges were destroyed during the Great Flood after standing for over 100 years.

On Saturday, the cycling community gathered for an annual celebration of the rebuilt bridges and to spotlight the Cedar Valley Nature Trail.

"I think it's just a great way to come together with like minded people and enjoy the great trail system that we have here. It's kind of a hidden gem that we need to bring more awareness to. So rides like this are a great way to do that," Michele Taiber, a board member of the Cedar Valley Cyclists, said.
