A new agreement has been reached between Sac County Conservation Board and the Department of Natural Resources regarding the Sauk Rail Trail.

The DNR will be repairing the dike portion that the trail currently sits on within Black Hawk Marsh later this summer. The current trail on the dike will be removed by Sac County after the July 4 holiday, at which time that section of trail will be closed for an extended period. While a concrete trail will be established on the north/south dike portion (parallel to Perkins Avenue), a new concrete route will be created for the east/west section along or on the established public DNR access road which will connect to the existing Sauk Rail Trail.

SCCB tentatively plans to start paving the trail in 2025.
